(1)    New Immigration Fees to be Introduced from 6th April 2010

 

(2)    Changes for Tier 4 Students:

 

·         Students applying under Tier 4 (General) to study a course that is below degree level and is not a foundation degree, can only work a maximum of 10 hours per week during term time compared to the previous maximum level used to be 20 hours per week).

·         Students applying to study a course under Tier 4 (General) for six months or less, will no longer be able to their family members (known as 'dependants').

·         The minimum level of English language course that Tier 4 (General) students can study has been raised o level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

 

(3)    On 6th April 2010 the government will make significant changes to Tier 1 and Tier 2 of the points-based system.

 

(4)    The UKBA has launched the 'Highly Trusted Sponsor Scheme' for education providers under Tier 4 of the points-based system. This means Tier 4 sponsors can apply for a Highly Trusted Sponsor license from today, and the register of highly trusted sponsors will be published from 6th April 2010.

 

(5)    Anybody granted refugee status or humanitarian protection between August 2005 and July 2006, with your initial five-year permission to stay expiring before earned citizenship comes into force, you will still be able to apply for settlement (also known as 'indefinite leave to remain'). You will be expected to apply no more than 28 days before your initial permission to stay expires.
